Metal Classified

Ferrous Metal

The Definition of Ferrous Metal :
Ferrous Metal mostly contain Iron. They have small amounts of other metals, to give the required properties. Ferrous Metal is magnetic and give little resistance to corrosion.
The Different Ferrous Metal :
Cast Iron, Wrought Iron, Mild Steel, High Carbon Steel, Low Carbon Steel, Steel

Non-Ferrous Metal

The Definition of Non-Ferrous Metal :
Metal that does not have steel or iron in it, So it is Non-magnetic and does not rust like Ferrous Metals.

The Different Non-Ferrous Metal :
Aluminium, Copper, Lead, Tin, Zinc, Gold, Silver

Alloys

The Definition of Alloy :
An alloy is a  mixture of metal and another element from the Periodic Table. There are three types of Alloys. Heat treatable (involves the use heating or chilling at extreme treating to increase the strength), substitution and interstitial alloys.

The Different Alloys :
Bronze - Copper & Tin, Brass - Copper & Zinc, Steel - Iron & Carbon,

Terms of Metal words
Hardness - the quality or condition of being hard.
Elasticity - resume its normal shape after being stretched or compressed
Ductility - metal's ability to withstand tensile stress
Malleability - Something that can be shape into something different without breaking
Toughness - the state of being strong
Density - the quantity of people or things in a given area
Brittleness - when subjected to stress, it breaks without significant plastic deformation
