Being an Assertive Queen Learning Review

Being Assertive

We have been told how to be a strong and independent women and that we dont need no man by being assertive.

What are the four types of behavioural responses, and what does each mean?
- Assertive - Being Confident
- Aggressive - Showing Anger
- Passive - Being a Coward
- Indirect - Having someone else deal with your problems

What is the definition of Assertive Communication?
Having or showing a confident and forceful personality.

What are the three ‘describes’? When should you use them?
Discribe the Situation, Discribe your Feelings, Discribe the changes you want.

List and explain 5 of the ‘Assertive Communication Tools’. Think of your own example for each.
- 'I' Statements
- Think 'we' as well as 'me'
- Be Positive
- Thank them
- Go for the Agreement

List and explain in your own words 3 barriers to assertive communication.
- Culture
- Gender
- Age

What does assertive communication look like?
- Maintain Eye Contact
- Face the Person
- Do not smile of giggle

What does assertive communication sound like?
- The sound of your Voice
- The way you speak

What does it mean to act like a scratched record when it comes to your boundaries?
You just have to continue being clear on your position until the other person gets the message.

Think back to a time when you or a friend used a behavioural response that was not assertive. What type was it? What did you say? What happened as a result? What could you have done differently?
My Friend keeped hitting me in the head and I was telling him to stop but he wasnt listening to me, so I fought fire with fire. This was aggressive of me

Reflect on your behavioural responses until now. How do you usually respond to tricky situations? Do you want to change the way you respond, moving forward? What will you try to remember in the future when difficult situations arise?
I am a mix between all four.

Reduce Plastic Waste Scheme 2020

Dear Customers and Suppliers

Stanley Organics Ltd. have come up with a new scheme to help us reduce the use of plastic packaging in our store. We want to stop putting plastic in our landfills; biodegradable/degradable plastic bags only break down under certain conditions which causes this to not be a long-term solution. We want to invite our customers and suppliers to be a part of our new scheme and work together with us to help change the way everyday products are bought. We want to welcome your feedback to help us improve our scheme as time goes along.

A few changes that are going to be implemented are as follows.

1) All plastic bags are now replaced with hessian bags (made from flax and hemp fibres). First bag free with purchases over $50. Or we will provide recycled cardboard boxes (and help carry to your car).

2) Most liquid products (liquid soap, shampoo, dishwashing liquid, etc.) are now available in ‘fill your own’ containers. Bring your own container to fill and get a 5% discount.

3) Fresh vegetables - instead of plastic bags, try reusable waxed cotton bags to keep food fresh.

Stanley Organics Ltd. thanks you for your support and we hope to see you in our store.

Regards,
Judith and Barry Sampson

Subject: Fire Evacuation

Hello everyone,

After the recent fire evacuation drill, I noticed that many people don’t know what to do during the drill. Although the fire alarm keeps on buzzing some staffs are still in the building. Some people that are in the building that time was not aware of what they are going to do during the drill and some of them even wandered to get a coffee! I will be listing some instructions on what to do during the fire evacuation drill.

1. When the fire alarm starts, staff are supposed to leave the building immediately and assemble to the main car park.

2.  Keep the emergency exits clear at all times.

3. And lastly, you must leave the car park or return to the building until the Fire Safety  Officer gives them all clear.

These instructions are not applicable only for our fire evacuation drills but also in-home or in different places. I hope this sort things out. I will appreciate if you do follow the rules and apply those rules on our next fire evacuation drill. If there are things that still confuses you, don’t hesitate to email me so I will sort things out for you.

Cheers,

Meg Williams
Assistant Manager

RE: Mats in the Office

4 August 2020

Hello Jackie,

The Mats:
  • Entrance to the main reception area (1 Mat) - thick straw mat with rubber base.
  • All external door exits on ground floor (7 Mats) - thin, straw, no rubber base.
  • Staff lunch room (1 Mat) - between couchs, thin, wool/carpet.
  • Fire escape door on 2nd floor (1 Mat) - thin, wool/carpet.
Condition - generally okay, with no wear or curling edges.
Rubber based straw mats dont skid when walked on but the thin carpet and straw only mats do. None of these adhesive or velcro on the bottem to keep it in place.
Production room staff have stuck their mat down with packaging tape - two staff members had a close call with slipping on the mats.
What staff say - "Why do we have thin carpet/straw mats their in the first place?"
